Chapel Farm

The Elder family have been farming at Chapel Farm since 1952, and farming organically since 2000. The farm is currently run by the father & son combination of Graham & Angus. Chapel Farm is situated 20 miles east of Edinburgh near the coastal town of North Berwick where the fertile soils and local climate of long summer days, relatively dry and frost free for Scotland are ideal for producing a range of organic potato and vegetable crops. Chapel Organics/Thomas Elder supply a broad range of customers from shops to box schemes, wholesalers and supermarkets. Crops such as potatoes and onions are stored in insulated temperature controlled stores where more perishable crops such as leeks and cabbages will be harvested from the field on the same day that they are dispatched from the farm ensuring the freshest possible produce. Our vegetables and potatoes are produced in a seven year rotation along with fertility building herbal leys and multi species cover crops to build soil organic matter and biodiversity.

I love the variety and quality we get from our weekly delivery, and have found our food waste is greatly reduced by using Locavore's recipes to use up our well-stocked box of veg every week!
