We believe that changing the way we produce and distribute food is fundamental to solving the world’s most pressing social and ecological problems.
Locavore is a social enterprise which exists to help build a more sustainable local food system which is better for local economies, the environment and our communities. We’re about making the money spent on food do more for the benefit of society and our environment.
We’ve been working with this brief since 2011 to develop ideas and practical solutions which can be used to build sustainable food networks. Over this time we’ve grown and diversified Locavore to do all sorts or different activities including growing and delivering local organic veg boxes, running four sustainable shops, providing wholesale to other businesses, running community projects, and serving procurement contracts to serve local authorities with school food.
You can find out much more about everything we do over on our main website: locavore.scot
Local food supports local economies. Food grown in the local community supports local jobs and encourages variety in our diets. It also requires less transportation, so it's fresher and has a smaller environmental footprint.
Ethical fresh and tasty food. An asset to the community. We love the Mossgiel milk and Freedom Bakery bread.
